'Desert' Drew & 'Mojave' Micki will be mining for native placer gold fines and gold nuggets in the Historic Gold Basin Mining District, Mohave County, Arizona as often as possible in 2009. The natural placer gold fines and gold nuggets that we find from these trips will be for sale on this website.
The Gold Basin/Elephant Wash Placers and nearby Lost Basin/King Tut Placers have produced gold nuggets of over 2 Troy ounces (Toz.) in modern times and 1/4 Toz. "jewelry grade" nuggets are common. We will also be offering for sale - smelted dore bars and buttons & fine (flour) gold in vials. The native placer gold fines and nuggets in this area average 22K - 23K purity. Gold Basin is also famous for Chondrite (stoney) Meteorites and we will have these available for sale as they are found.
Early in 2009 DesertDrew.com will be participating in a state-wide study of Arizona placer gold purity and trace element chemistry conducted by Dr. Erik Melchiorre of California State University, San Bernardino. DesertDrew.com will be providing gold samples from the Gold Basin Mining District and the King Tut Mining District for this study. Once our samples have been analyzed we will have the results posted on this site and each purchase of gold nuggets or fine gold in vials from DesertDrew.com will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and a copy of the test results. If you choose to sell gold purchased here at a later date, the certificate and purity test results should help you get the best market value.
